Totally O/T but just had to have my hamster put down :*(

Am so upset, my lovely little Syrian Hamster Gus-Gus got really ill yesterday and we took him to Pets at Home and they gave him some medication and said to take him to the vets 1st thing today which I did but unfortunately he had a very bad case of a really seious illness that hamsters get called Wet Tail.
The vet said they could try to help him but that they doubt he'd last the day and he looked in so much pain and wasn't moving and was all stiff that I decided the best thing to do was to have him put to sleep.
I've only had him since Christmas so am really upset.
I hope I did the right thing
