fertilitydiaries ttc fertility pregnancy forum

We have been trying to conceive for a while now! was on Depo-Provera until January 2007 and still no sign of getting pregnant. I know it can take up to 18 months to get out of your system ( although they never told me that when i started on it} but its frustrating as I am 35 this year and I already have a 3 and half year old daughter from previous relationship and really didnt want a big age gap . Anyway last month i used ovulation strips to see if i was actually ovulating and i never got a positive all month :( so this month i have got some more to work it all out and if it dosnt come back by july then i guess its off to docs for me..
im on cd 13 .. its hard to try not to get obsessed by it all though isnt it.
So fingers crossed for everyone ttc hope this will be our month

hi zoey, thannks for joining! theres a discussion for those in the 2ww in the forum. Can you not go to the docs before july as you havebeenttc for over a year now. Does your partner/ husband have any children?
i did go a few months back and she wasnt that helpful said it can take up to 18months to get it out of my system so i have to just wait.. easy for her to say ...
No he dosnt have any children so he really would like his own .. we are due to get married in Sept 2009
I completely understand your frustration Zoey, I went through exactly the same thing. I was on the depo for almost 4 years solid we then decided to start trying. After 6 months of nothing, I went for blood test every week just to see if i was ovulating but nothing! Finally after 2 years and 10 months I fell pregnant with my now 9 month old Archie. We are now trying for baby number 3, I'm on the 2 ww. If i were you, I'd give yourself another year for the depo to be completely out of your system, then if something does happen great. But at least if you give yourself another year your not going to be a stressed out, i remember after the 18 months of nothing thinking every month right thats 19 months it should happen now, then 20 months etc. I hope all that doesn't sound condescending.

no not at all.. its just so frustrating .. also i read that if you had a HYDATIDIFORM MOLE pregnancy you shouldnt even be given depo and i had one of those in 1999... so i was thinking i might just tottle off to the docs when i get back from london next week just to thrash this all out with them so I know whats going on .... how long have you been trying for no3 and all do you mind me asking how old you are? im 35 this year and after your 35 its all down hill and less positive for baby making .. ( you may not ovulate so regularly etc )

I have been trying for 7 months but i was on citlopram for 5 of those and it stopped my periods completely, so i was unlikely to conceive during those months, of course they don't tell you that when you go on them. Again its a case of a doctors cock up so to speak. I would go back to your docs and complain about being put on it in the first place, sounds like they have some explaining to do, the word negligence springs to mind. I came on 2 weeks after stopping the citlopram and i took an ovulation test 14 days after and it said i was ovulating, so i am now on the 2 week wait although i will be surprised if its going to be that simple. I am 28 almost : (. As for you being 35 women are having children in the 30's all the time so i wouldn't let that worry you, although i know that is harder than it sounds. I buy all my pregnancy test and ovulation tests on ebay, there much cheaper and you don't feel so guilty about wasting so much money. Also i have a 8 year old and the age gap is really working out for us and they are surprisingly close. Sorry to be dim but what is a hydatidiform mole pregnancy?

I keep hearing about how hard it is to get pregnant after the Depo shot...that really worries me. They should warn women about that before giving them the shot! I'm sorry that they didn't :( I know how it feels to never get a positive on an OPK, that really sucks. I hope that next month is better for ya! Good luck1
