fertilitydiaries ttc fertility pregnancy forum

Hi everyone,
Just wondering if anyone could help me with a little question I have. I've just finished my first round of clomid. I've had neg result and not had AF. Just wondering what I do next? I'm supposed to take it again for another cycle, but thought I could only start it on day 2 of AF. Someone please help!

Hey Andrea,

I too am on clomid. With clomid you just keep going cycle after cycle until either you fall pregnant or your dr changes your treatment or you stop taking it.

My dr has me taking the tablets on days 2 to 6 some people take it 5 to 9 all sorts of times.

When did your doc tell you to take yours?

When you atart again you just take the tablet at the same time for the 5 days like you did the first round.

Is there anything else you need to know as i am more then happy to help.

Marsha
Hey Marsha,

Thanks for your reply. My question was more due to the fact that I haven't had AF since I took my first round of clomid, but I'm still getting BFN! So frustrating, as I have no idea what my body is doing!

I have to wait til AF comes to take tablets on days 2 to 6 like you. But without AF and neg test results, I have no idea what's going on!

I do have another question though: Does clomid always give you (roughly) a 28 day cycle, or can it be anything from 21 to 61?! I've read different things on other forums, so am quite confused! I always thought it was meant to make you ovulate around say 14, and so make it a 28 day cycle, give or take. Please help!

How have you got on with clomid? Have you had any side effects while on it? And are you taking anything else with it too?

Hey Andrea,

On Clomid i have found that it has semi regulated my cycle. i was very irregular and now that i am on clomid i have a 30 day cycle and ovulate about CD16.

I have had a couple of side effects like hot flushes and sleepless nights but apart from that nothing really. I'm not taking anything else with it at the moment but you might need something to triger AF for you. Have you have a blood test yet to confirm your not pregnant or spoken to your doc about it?
Hi Andrea,

When I was taking Clomid, I found it made my cycles longer. I'm usually 25-28 and I was going as late as 31. each person reacts differently. I know I usually ovulate at day 10 and with the clomid I was all over the place. I know how frustrating the wait can be, the longer you don't get your period the more you question and hope that you are in fact pregnant. I am so tired of the mind games that I will not buy another HPT, as the dr. schedules bloodwork, which is more accurate. I still get extremely disappointed when the witch shows her ugly face, but that is to be expected. Hope this helps, and I hope you get the BFP you have been waiting for! Good luck in your journey.

hi there
just thought i would throw in my 2 cents.
my first question is.....are you getting a negative on a hpt or is it negative on a beta HCG?
you should go for a blood test just to confirm.
i'm on injections but i did a round in june, got AF (and it was heavy) at the begining on july and immediatly started another cycle to find out on day 9 of the injection drugs that i was pregnant, but it was ectopic (they couldn't even see it on the multiple internal ultrasounds i was getting, so my dr was shocked too when i did a hpt to get a BFP....i wasn't feeling well so decided to do a hpt to rule out my own suspicions.).
i will never be convinced it is negative without a blood test to confirm.
just my advice....
good luck
jen
Hi everyone,

Thanks for all your comments and advice! I got BFN again yesterday, so will call up my doc Monday and arrange for a blood test. I didn't realise that a HPT could be inaccurate! Show's how little I know ...

Jen, I'm so sorry to hear about your ectopic. My mum had an ectopic pg, but she was unaware of it and her tube ruptured. To cut a long story short, doctors said if she'd been 15 mins later arriving at the hospital, she wouldn't have made it. My point is, we're all very lucky to still have you around! :) Ectopics are really scary, so you have all my love, hugs and empathy across the miles. I do hope everything works out for you.

Will keep y'all posted with what happens with my silly cycles!

Love and baby dust,
Andrea
